چکیده

Mosquitoes are considered as the most nuisance causing vectors they responsible for a widespread of diseases. Malaria-borne mosquitoes killing two to three million people and infect an estimated hundred or more annually. A host other mosquito-borne diseases including filariasis, yellow fever, dengue, encephalitis kill debilitate hundreds millions more. The present study investigates bio efficacy commercially available plant oils from Pongamia glabra (Karanja) Syzygium aromaticum (Clove). These were tested against Aedes aegypti (Dengue fever mosquito) determine their lethal concentration doses (LC50). larval toxicity assay was performed where stock solution 10% prepared both at range 100 900 ppm 90 1300 set respectively. batch each 10 IVth instar larvae subjected with test, combination control period 24 48 hrs. Limonoids as larvicidal components against mosquito larvae (Aedes aegypti Linn.).

The study focussed on four limonoids (calodendrolide, harrisonin, pedonin and pyroangolensolide) as larvicidal components against mosquito 2nd instar larvae of the species Aedes aegypti Linn. senso stricto. Since pyroangolensolide is close to calodendrolide in structure, it was synthesized through reduction of calodendrolide with chromium(II) chloride in acetone. Harrisonin and pedonin were ext...

A potent larvicidal agent against Aedes aegypti mosquito from cardanol.

Cardanol is a constituent of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid that presents larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti. The isolation of cardanol is somewhat troublesome, however, in this work we describe an efficient and inexpensive method to obtain it as a pure material. The compound was used as starting material to make chemical transformation leading to saturated cardanol, epoxides and, halohydrins. ...

Effects of hecogenin on Larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti mosquito, the dengue vector

Background Dengue is a viral disease, caused by the dengue virus, a Flaviviridae family virus. Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the genus Aedes, principally A. aegypti. The dengue control is based on the mosquito combat, most of time through chemical insecticides. Hecogenin is a sapogenin present in the leaves of species from the Agave genus, with a wide spectrum of r...
